Privacy policy
This page describes what data HN Labels collects and how that data is used.
What we collect
- The email address and password you provide when creating an account. Passwords are stored hashed; we never see your plaintext password.
- The labels you create: the Hacker News username, the label text, and the color you chose for it.
- A session cookie used to keep you signed in.
How we use it
Your email identifies your account. The labels you create are returned to the browser extension when it asks for them, so they can render next to the matching usernames on Hacker News. That's the entire feature — your data isn't used for anything else.
What we don't do
- We don't sell, share, or rent your data.
- We don't share data with AI training services.
Storage and deletion
Data is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database. You can delete individual labels from your dashboard at any time. To delete your account entirely (including all labels and session data), email the address below.
